Security Upgrade for Your Locks
Many doors in Limassol still have old, basic locks and cylinders. They open and close every day, but they give little resistance to the break-in methods that are now spreading all over Cyprus. We upgrade old and outdated locks and keyways to modern European models that resist snapping, drilling, bumping and impressioning.
The four methods a modern cylinder protects against
- Snapping: the cylinder is broken at its weakest point and the lock is turned. Anti-snap cylinders have a built-in break line, so even if the outer part breaks, the lock stays closed.
- Drilling: the cylinder is drilled to destroy the pins. High-security cylinders have hardened steel inserts that stop the drill.
- Bumping: a specially cut key is tapped to make the pins jump. Modern cylinders use special pins and key profiles that resist it.
- Impressioning: a thin silver foil or a blank key is worked inside the lock until it takes the shape of the right key. Complex keyways and anti-impression pins make this much harder.
What we can upgrade
- Old basic cylinders → high-security cylinders with anti-snap, anti-drill, anti-bump and anti-impression protection.
- Cylinders that stick out of the door are more prone to snapping → we change them to shorter models, ideally with a cylinder guard (defender) on top for maximum anti-snap protection.
- Doors with only one lock → a second security lock, so the door locks at two points. Two locks roughly double the time a burglar needs to get in, and the better the quality of your locks, the more that time grows. The longer it takes to get into your home, the more likely they are to give up and leave.
- Shop, office and glass doors → in most cases we can fit a second lock on them too. Double the locking points, double the effort to break in.
- Keys anyone can copy → protected key systems: new keys can only be ordered with your security card, so nobody can copy your key without you knowing.

Common questions
Do I need to change the whole lock?
Usually not. In most doors we only change the cylinder, which is the quickest and cheapest upgrade.
How do I know if my cylinder is outdated?
If it sticks out of the door, came with the house years ago, or uses a simple flat key, it is probably a basic model. We check it when we come.
Which brands do you fit?
European brands only, such as CISA, ISEO, Mottura, TESA, EVVA and ABUS. No cheap copies.
